BOXING
During a boxing training session, you will get the ultimate strength and fat-burning cardio workout. One of the most effective ways to burn more calories is by elevating your heart rate above 75-80% of your maximum for short bouts with quick recoveries. Boxing is an explosive, anaerobic sport. The act of throwing punches, round after round, is a total body workout by targeting the entire body in different ways:
- Legs: jumping rope, squatting up and down as you throw combinations, moving your feet and staying on your toes.
- Abs and core: Each punch delivered comes by way of the feet firmly planted and your midsection winding it up. The actual punch is only the by-product of the force generated by your legs and your midsection.
- Shoulders: Each punch requires you to lean into it using the shoulders. Have you ever tried holding your arms up with 14 oz gloves? Great on the shoulders.
- Arms: This should be obvious.
- Lower Back/Lats:
You don’t need to attend a gym. It can be done anywhere: at a park, at your home…wherever. No sparring partner is needed, and the equipment requirements are elementary: a bag, hand wraps, gloves, and jump rope. I provide the punching mitts. You’ll get a workout that doesn’t miss a spot: a 1,000-calorie-an-hour cardio bomb on par with running, and a superb all-body tuner that builds shoulders and forearms and works legs, hips, abs, upper back, triceps, biceps and lats. Most of all, it’s so much fun! You won’t even realize that an hour has gone by when it’s over.
